Dr. Takeshi Sakurai has been awarded Tsukuba Prize
Dr. Takeshi Sakurai, a vice center director of International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine (WPI-IIIS) has been selected as a recipient of Tsukuba Prize, which is awarded to scientists who have made outstanding research results in Ibaraki Prefecture. He received the prize in discovery of neural circuits that induce a hibernation-like state.
The 32nd 2021 Tsukuba Prize Award Ceremony was held at Epochal Tsukuba International Congress Center on March 10, 2022. Dr. Leo Esaki, President of the Science and Technology Promotion Foundation of Ibaraki as well as Chairman of Tsukuba Science Academy, congratulated Prof. Sakurai via video message. Dr. Maruyama presented him with an honorable certificate and a medal, then Dr. Usui presented him with a catalog of award.
