WPI-IIIS, University of Tsukuba Signs Collaboration Agreement with Tsukuba City to Discover and Resolve Sleep Problems

On July 26, 2024, the International Institute for Integrative Sleep Medicine, University of Tsukuba (WPI-IIIS) and Tsukuba City held an “ Collaboration Agreement for the Discovery and Resolution of Sleep Problems” ceremony.

The agreement was signed at Tsukuba City Hall by Dr. Masashi Yanagisawa, Director of WPI-IIIS, University of Tsukuba and Dr. Tatsuo Igarashi, Mayor of Tsukuba City.

This is a collaborative agreement aimed at making citizens’ sleep debt visible and improving sleep quality. In the future, the agreement also includes the provision of sleep tests and awareness activities for the citizens of Tsukuba City.
The empirical study is scheduled to start in October or November 2024, with the expectation that Tsukuba City employees will be provided with a sleep measurement device (InSomnograf: S’UIMIN Inc.) to measure their brain waves for several days at home, then based on the analysis results, doctors will advise them on how to improve their sleep habits and environment. After putting the advice into practice, they will re-measure their brain waves to verify the effectiveness of the device.
