Two Students of IIIS Kutsumura/Saito Lab Receive Best Student Presentation Award at the 144th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan (PSJ)

Iyo Koyanagi, Ph.D., a postdoctoral researcher in the Sakaguchi lab, received the “Poster Prize (€250)” at the 5th Adult Neurogenesis in Physiology and Disease (Eurogenesis) meeting, held in Bordeaux, France, from June 12-14, 2024. Eurogenesis, an international conference convened every three years, focuses on stem cell regulation, the integration of new neurons, and the role of adult neurogenesis in physiology and diseases. Iyo’s poster presented her research on the reactivation of young adult-born neurons during REM sleep and its function on memory consolidation.
The title of her presentation is “Reactivation of hippocampal adult-born neurons representing fear memory in REM sleep for memory consolidation”, and out of approximately 80 presenters, she was selected as one of 4.
