Two Students of IIIS Kutsumura/Saito Lab Receive Best Student Presentation Award at the 144th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan (PSJ)
Yuka Kazama (Kutsumura/Saitoh Lab) and Yuta Koizumi (Saitoh Lab), first-year students in the doctor’s program in Chemistry Degree Programs in Pure and Applied Sciences, Graduate School of Science and Technology, received the Best Student Presentation Award at the 144th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan (PSJ) held in Yokohama, Japan.
In addition to the award, the presentation by Yuka, “Development of a Comprehensive Synthesis of Flavonoids and Structure-Activity Relationship Studies on Salt-Inducible Kinases,” was selected as one of the “Annual Meeting Highlights” as a publicity material for the press of the PSJ.
The Annual Meeting Presentation Highlights are selected by presentations deemed worthy of attention by category from among general scientific presentations.
Among the 376 oral presentations and 616 poster presentations registered in the field of chemical pharmacy, Yuka was selected as one of the highlights of nine members.
Yuka received the award for “synthesizing diverse flavonoids by developing a comprehensive synthetic method for flavonoids and discovering new seeds for sleep therapy through structure-activity relationship research on kinases”.
Yuta received the Student Presentation Award for his presentation entitled “Development of a Novel Synthetic Pathway for NC114 Induction”.
Yuta’s presentation entitled “Development of a novel synthetic pathway for efficient derivative synthesis toward further induction of NC114, which suppresses overexpression of KLF5, a transcription factor essential for colorectal cancer expression” was the key to be awarded.
